Big Thief - Mary

>> quinta-feira, janeiro 25, 2018

Uma descoberta recente. Uma beleza.

Mary
Big Thief

Burn up with the water
The floods are on the plains
The planets in a rose
Who knows what they contain?
And my brain is like an orchestra
Playing on, insane
Will you love me like you loved me in the January rain?
Mom and Dad and violins
Somber country silence
The needle stopped the kicking
The clothespins on the floor
And my heart is playing hide and seek
Wait and count to four
Will you love me like you loved me and I'll never ask for more
What did you tell me Mary
When you were there so sweet and very
Full of field and stars
You carried all of time
Oh and, heavens, when you looked at me
Your eyes were like machinery
Your hands were making artifacts in the corner of my mind
Monastery monochrome
Boom balloon machine and oh
Diamond rings and gutter bones
Marching up the mountain
With our aching planning
High and smiling
Cheap drink
Dark and violent
Full of butterflies
The violent tenderness
The sweetest silence
The clay you find is fortified
We felt unfocused fade the line
The sugar rush
The constant hush
The pushing of the water gush
The marching band
When April ran
May June bugs fly in
Push your gin Jacob
With the tired wiry brandy look
Here you go around Mary in your famous story book
We overcome the sirens
We look both left and right
And I can feel the numbness accompany my plight
And I know that someday soon I'll see you
But now you're out of sight
And you'll kiss me like you used to in the January night
What did you tell me Mary
When you were there so sweet and very
Full of field and stars
You carried all of time
Oh and, heavens, when you looked at me
Your eyes were like machinery
Your hands were making artifacts in the corner of my mind
Monastery monochrome
Boom balloon machine and oh
Diamond rings and gutter bones
Marching up some mountain
With our aching planning
High and smiling
Cheap drink
Dark and violent
Full of butterflies
The violent tenderness
The sweetest silence
The clay you find is fortified
We felt some focus fade the line
The sugar rush
The constant hush
The pushing of the water gush
The marching band
When April ran
May June bugs fly in
Push your gin Jacob
With the tired wiry brandy look
Here you go around Mary in your famous story book

Take in a breath
and treasure the light
don`t let them see you move
you've got nothing to prove
Hold out your arms
and place them in mine
don`t let me feel you shake
in fear they find mistake
Silence this song
with bugles that play
you need to hear the call
they wishing you to fall
don't let them see you fail
I will not let you fail
I will not let you fail
I will not let
You fail.

Um início auspicioso

>> quinta-feira, janeiro 01, 2015

Haruko - Little Children

Haruko - Little Children

i used to sit on the roof when i was still small
my parents told to come down, come down, they told me i might fall
i'm not afraid of falling, i'm not afraid of heights
one must learn what it's like to fall when you want to learn to fly
i lead you into the wood
we danced and we smiled
i showed you places of my childhood
you told me i was still a child
and then you'd run into the dark just to scare me when i'd come running after
you would run into the dark just to scare me when i'd come running after
and i would sit upon a tree and watch you from above while you cry for me and you'd keep looking everywhere until i laugh and say
i'm here i'm up here
and then you’d run...

Letra:
darling you took me to the cliffs where the sun goes down
and you took my hand until the sun had gone
and when the night came and laid it's black coat around our eyes
oh my darling, with the sound of the waves you turned to silver dust and the waves took you away
last night i had a dream about you my dear
i saw your lips moving but the words i couldn't hear
but in the morning i listened to the sea
i sat still and then the ocean whispered to me and it said
“what you long to keep will be taken from you until you've learned, until you've learned to let go
what you long to keep will be taken from you; just like the waves it comes and goes..."

"Would you step back from the line of fire?"

What would you do
if it all came back to you?
Each crest of each wave
bright as lightning.

What would you say
if you had to leave today?
leave everything behind
even though for once, you're shining.

Standing on higher ground
when you hear the sounds
you realize it's just the wind.
And you notice it matters
who and what you let under your skin.

Put to the test
would you step back from the line of fire?
Hold everything back
all emotions set aside it.

Convince yourself
someone else
and fight from the world
your lack of confidence.
What you choose to believe in
takes you much too far
takes you much too far.

No one else around you
no one to understand you

no one to hear your calls.
Look through all your dark corners
you're backed up against the wall
step back from the line of fire.

What would you do
if it all came back to you?
each crest of each wave
bright as the lightning
do the same as you do
do the same as you do
do the same as you,
do the same as you.

I do the same as you,
Do the same as you
do the same as you do
What you choose to believe in
takes you much too far

No one else around you
no one to understand you
no one to hear your calls.
Look through all your dark corners
you're backed up against the wall
Step back from the line of fire x 8

Step back
Step back
Step back
